Integration of principles for rich practice

Compassionate Communication (NVC)

is a model for honoring everyone's needs equally, based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg, PhD.  It proposes that we all have the same variety of needs (values) and that each of us has the equal right to have those needs met.  When we get in conflict with each other (or internally) it is because we do not appreciate the strategies being used to get those needs met.  Parenting with the tools provided by NVC allows us to parent with deeper connection, trust, and compassion.

The Enneagram is a personality system that describes the different ways people think, act, and feel.  It identifies the motivations that describe our core way of being in the world.  Children behave in ways that can be characterized by a certain type.  Understanding this can help us support them more effectively and connect with them more deeply.  As parents, knowing our own type can help us understand how and why certain situations are strong emotional triggers for us.  We can use this knowledge for healing and transformation.

This work has helped all of my relationships and my own spiritual journey.in a variety of ways.

Third Way Parenting (TWP) provides parents with tools that integrate Compassionate Communication (NVC), the Enneagram, Mindfulness, and other resources. TWP offers workshops, weekly classes, and in-home consultations focused on the methods, practice, and challenges of balancing everyone's needs.  Each child, parent and relationship represents a unique individual at a specific point on their path.  TWP's hope is to meet each situation with a fresh combination of tools and support to honor the spirit of each individual.
